"God," Cecilia grunted, squeezing her eyes shut through another hard wave of pain. "You are so stupid." She tried to focus on evening out her breathing, deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth, but every breath in was agony on her ribs. "There's more people in this group right now gunning for you than not. Someone will do it. And the more people you hurt, the surer that fact becomes." She managed a drawn grin. "Anyone finds out what you did to me, that'll be the final push for some. But do you want to know what the really funny part of this whole thing is?" That grin widened. Cecilia felt a bit mad, but her nurse's mind was able to write it off to shock kicking in.
"They offered you up as a sacrificial lamb just to see if you'd do something stupid enough to force the rest of us into killing you. It's not like any of us never thought about it. I know I did, especially in Bunkerville. You could have worked this whole thing in your favor if you stopped to think about it for even a second. Like I said. Sooner or later you screw up. It's the only thing you know how to do."
