"Hardly your fault," she returned. As far as she was concerned, none of this captive situation was anyone in here's fault. What Simms did or didn't do was on him.
It occurred to her to wonder if he was thinking beyond the moment though. The prison wasn't likely to be forever, and when they all had relative freedom again ... she had a hard time imagining anyone was just going to smile and nod and say well, we had it coming, all's forgiven big guy.
No, she imagined most of them coming out if this were going to want to kill him. She did wonder if it would be ... well, allowed. And if anyone would be present to stop it if it came to pass. That, she thought, would be interesting to see.
Despite Kate's words though, she wouldn't sit by idly if he did come in to harass her. It wasn't any sense of altruism, exactly, but because it was what people would do. Should do, if they were human and saw another human being injured.
"Here's hoping he leaves us be," she said instead before she laid back on the bed, closing her eyes. She would talk to Kate though, if it would help things. She could recite poetry or song lyrics or something if she was just being background noise, or she could ask questions. What's your favorite this, what's your best that, and so on, and so forth.
