Juno liked to think she wouldn't ever kill anyone but hey, she made one exception - and recently it had gone up to two. Simms and her dad. One of them she didn't have to bother with, the other, she'd have to see.
With her phone in hand, Juno could see she had messages, and she should read them, but something stopped her from doing so. She didn't want to see the others' concern, the probably spread-out dread of Simms being loose, and then what was focused on her, specifically. Juno put her phone under her mattress, despite it still vibrating. She only nodded along, still trying to keep her breathing in check and rotating her shoulders and neck, half as a force of habit half in preparation.
And then, Simms showed up. Juno felt herself shrink inwardly, trying to make herself smaller while forcing herself not to do it in reality. She instead focused on defending from whatever was coming; which somehow involved a fire hose. Was he going to hose them down? That was going to hurt. Juno had less than a second to curl up on her mat and protect her head, even as the blast pushed her back against the wall, hurt her arms and legs. She gritted her teeth and closed her eyes.
I'm going to kill you. But first, I'm going to waterboard the fuck out of you. She thought, wondering if she was bleeding or anything. She couldn't tell. She hoped Cecilia was okay.
