Kiley had been in fights before. Never with someone like Simms, sure, but she wasn't terribly worried. At least not for herself. She always sort of figured guys like Simms got off on causing fear. And he was probably able to invoke a lot of it as a cop. He had authority and power then, just like he did in this situation. There were just some people in the house who couldn't hide their emotions, good or bad, and Simms probably recognized that.
As Cecilia addressed Pam, Kiley watched her cellmate and felt her lips twitch in amusement over the fact that Pam admitted her only defense was her shrill-ness. Kiley had always assumed Pam was just oblivious to the shit she said, and how she said it, but maybe not...
"We'll be fine, Pam," Kiley said. "Just... don't let him see that you're scared. He probably gets off on that kind of stuff. Assholes always do." She looked around the cell. "There's not much we can use as a weapon, although Chase told me that the green card inside our phones are really sharp and to attack with the corners. Or... just kick him in the balls, gouge his eyes and run. Whatever works, I guess."
