Who: Jack and Evie Where: Mansion foyer then around town When: About 10:35 onward
What had gotten into her?
Evie had no fucking clue she would react so strongly to Jack just deferring to Pam, that she would chew Jack out over PM and try to convince him to fight for what he'd asked for, which she thought was pretty fucking brave of him. More brave than her, anyway. And maybe that was why she'd reacted so strongly. Because she'd been tempted, so very tempted to ask for something of her dad or Phillipe; pictures or something from her dad's tool box or just something to make her feel like she wasn't so alone here, something to remind herself that there was a reason to keep fighting to get the hell out of here. As long as she had something to go home to, she knew she would keep fighting, but without it? She feared complacency.
Which may have also been why she'd been sorely tempted to ask for some tools of her trade, too. But when she'd weighed her options, it just didn't feel right to make a deal with the devil. And, as Billy had posted, she was relieved she hadn't asked for anything. Not only because the tasks they'd required were absolutely awful, but because she felt like she would have done whatever they asked to get what she wanted, so it was better, smarter to just not ask for anything at all.
But Jack... his request resonated with her, but Pam's had not. In particular, Pam's utter dismissal of Jack's request pissed her off beyond belief. How someone could be so selfish and callous to not even consider stepping aside so he could have pictures of his son with him? She wasn't the most altruistic person in the world, but she rather thought she would have let Jack have this one if she were in Pam's shoes. Not that she would be caught dead in Pam's shoes.
After establishing that she was in on Operation Save Bucky McStagson and they'd meet downstairs, Evie pulled her socks and shoes on, and headed out. When she got to the foyer, Jack wasn't there yet, so she leaned against the rail to wait. He probably wouldn't be far behind. And while she waited, she let her mind wander to just how to save the stag from their insane housemate.
