She'd left the party the night prior when she'd started to feel overwhelmed. She'd eaten though, and she'd talked with Noah, and they had a plan to head into town ... and she wondered if that was on given the falling snow outside. She guessed if he didn't want to, she wouldn't push the issue. There was clothing enough in the boxes to suit her for a few days, but she would like to get down to town eventually. She'd slept, eventually, though something stirred her awake sometime after. She listened in the darkness, and while she heard shouts she couldn't make out what the words were. She assumed it was late-night party revelry and didn't think too much of it as she drifted back down to sleep. Granted, on the way downstairs, she caught a whiff of old smoke and saw the lingering evidence of what the shouts must have been about. She paused for a moment in passing before continuing on down the stairs. She had a mind to get together some warmer clothes for her hopefully pending outdoor adventure, and then ... well, she'd see whether or not Noah still wanted to go in the snow. If not ... she might see about going herself. Maybe. Either way, she'd see what he said when he saw the weather. Making her way into the kitchen - after a couple of wrong turns - she paused as she caught sight of the stack of catalogues. She picked one up curiously, studying it briefly before setting it down again. They were definitely behind this whole Christmas thing. She wondered - not for the first time - if she should get people things. She just wasn't sure what though, and how they'd perceive it. She had requested something for Chase's cat, and she planned to ask for something for Noah once she figured out what, but beyond that she really didn't know if she should get things for people. They probably all had friends already getting them what they'd want. Maybe she'd ask though. With some hesitation still, Tara examined the contents of the kitchen cabinets and shelves and fridge before she settled on a bowl of cereal. It would be simpler to clean up, and until she got a feel for the flow of things, she planned to be as unobtrusive and out of the way as possible. No messes, no burdening, no anything unless she had to. Settling at the nearest table with her bowl and glass of juice, she pulled one of the clothing catalogues closer to start to flip through it. She wasn't sure if anyone was generally up this early, but if she was in someone's seat or something she'd be quick to bail out. Even as she flipped through the catalogue, even as she ate her breakfast, she glanced now and again to the window and the snow falling on the other side of it. Her lips pulled once into a grim line before she decided not to worry about it yet. She'd figure it out when the time came to figure it out. |
