Lena let her eyes linger on his a little longer, then sighed and rolled her eyes. "That means it's not," she said. "But I'll keep on pretending it is. That seems to be the stance everyone else wants to take on, anyway." She pushed off the table and picked up her glass, draining the rest before heading back to the bar.
"If it were real, I wouldn't lose sleep on it. Guys like that are a dime a dozen in the army, and anything to take them down a peg is more a community service than anything else."
