Rhett sighed and rubbed his eyes. "I don't think you completely understand my situation here." You're talking too much. But did it really matter? He'd been outed already, They made damn well sure of that even if they hadn't said anything overtly. He was sure if Cecilia reflected on this later, it was pretty goddamn obvious who the lowliest of criminals was in this house. They just had an entire conversation about how he wanted to stab someone.
"If someone gets hurt then there's no way for me to get away with it. Even if you weren't following me, everyone would figure it out right away. I wouldn't get punished, but everyone in the house would be watching me. At that point I would have no one on my side." He paused at the top of the stairs, taking a moment to think about where he wanted to be "alone" right then.
"Not to mention I would be forcing you to fail your test as well. And like we talked about before, the only way to get over that bit would be if I hurt you instead." Making up his mind, Rhett began to descend the stairs.
"And who is it out of all the captives that everyone respects the most? And how do you think the others would feel if anything happened to you?" He chuckled bitterly. "We were all set up from the start."
