Rhett hesitated. This was his way out, he should just fucking take it. But the one thing holding him back was that constant thought in the back of his head, the one he tried so hard to ignore but could never quite manage to; it was the reminder of his endless failings in life to be a good person. Instead he selfishly dragged everyone else down into his unabating darkness to sustain himself.
His hands shook, and he swallowed thickly as he tried to push back that relentless burning in his eyes.
That was always the thing though. No matter how much he grieved, or felt guilty, he would always take the easy way out.
"Are you sure about this?" He breathed, unable to meet Cecilia's eyes.
