Edwin wasn't experienced with waking up to an emergency like Oliver was. He woke up with the start of the screaming, and the jolt from Oliver, but he wasn't fully awake until the man sneezed. Why that was the thing to break him out of his sleepy haze, he didn't know, but it didn't much matter when there was still screaming.
As Oliver flew out of bed and out of the room, Edwin couldn't help but wonder if there was another fire. God, he hoped not. Oliver was already out the door when Edwin finally pushed himself up and looked for his boxers, which tended to be the only article of clothing he really cared that he had on in an emergency. He grabbed them and pulled them on quick, and momentarily dismissed the fact that he could have sworn he'd seen something hop out from beneath them and under his discarded shirt from the day before. That was a worry for later, when there wasn't an emergency, with screaming.
Finally, he threw the door back open, trying not to think of how Kramer he must have looked as he did so. He was not expecting the emergency to be Kai, screaming bloody murder about who-knows-what, while two new girls looked on and Oliver... Olivered. "What the hell is going on out here?" he thought out loud, wanting to take a step towards Kai to help, but not wanting to crowd her.
