Juno, who had leaned towards Cecilia and looked away from the action as much as possible, had heard what Oliver had said, and nodded in agreement despite not saying anything. She watched the exchange between Oliver and Kate, tapping her fingers on the back of the chair; when Kate addressed her Juno looked up and tried for a smile, nodding in thanks.
She sighed at the hopelessness of it all. Now that the dire need for self-protection had been allowed to take a backseat for a while, she could really appreciate how fucked up this all was. And Simms could, as he did, blame it all on everyone else but ultimately it was his fault, and it was Theirs. His, because if he hadn't hurt her in the first place none of this would be happening. And Theirs because they had put Lila in the mix to fuck with their morality system and make this all a little more fucked up than it had already been so far.
"I, I asked Cecilia," she told Oliver, still sort of whispering, "if there wasn't a way to slip her a weapon. A makeshift pepper spray, anything. They might let her keep it."
She sighed, shaking her head in genuine confusion. "I don't understand why she didn't just...break the connection. When she could."
