Owen was silent for a few moments as he listened to her speak. He understood where she was coming from, because he had the same thoughts himself. But he was trying to look at the bigger picture. Getting Simms out. Permanently. Maybe not from Zenith, but from this place, at least for however long they were there. Owen worked on piecing together his own thoughts, not wanting to say the wrong thing, but aware that she probably wouldn't like what he was going to say regardless of how he said it.
"Big picture," Owen said, slipping his hand into the pockets of his slacks. "We hold this trial, Chase tells the jury what happened. They find him guilty, Simms is gone. No worrying about keeping him locked up, dealing with his bullshit. He'll be gone. I don't know if they'll remove him from Zenith completely, but it's a possibility, isn't it? And if we don't listen to the people in charge, then what? We get punished. Maybe all of us. And we both know that if I don't let Simms out and follow their rules, then They let Simms out themselves, without any acknowledgement of the terms of his release. He's out and hurting someone else before we can stop him. I don't want to hurt anyone, but if we have an opportunity to get rid of him, why wouldn't we take it? Even if They choose the jury, no one in this place would think to give Simms an innocent verdict."
