Kiley had spent the night in the study with Chase, near the fireplace. It hadn't been the most comfortable place to sleep, but it had been warm, and that was all that mattered. When she had woken up, she was irritated to find the power was still out. But at least it was daytime and easier to see with the light shining in through the windows.
While Chase was off checking on things, Kiley retreated to their room to take a shower. At least they still had hot water. It helped warm her chilled skin and by the time she got out of the shower to dry off, Kiley was already thinking of dressing in multiple layers.
She wrapped her towel around her body and was reaching for her toothbrush when a slight tremor shook the mirror. Kiley lifted her gaze to find... not her reflection, but... someone else. Another room. If she hadn't experienced such weird shit on the island, Kiley might have stumbled back and run from the bathroom, but as it was, she couldn't look away. She couldn't look away because there was Noah, on the other side of the mirror, banging against it and calling for help.
Kiley stared in shock before she reached out to touch the mirror. It was solid, though it still shook every time Noah's fists touched from his side. "Noah?!" Kiley called, nearly crawling up onto the sink. "Noah!"
He paused, as if he could hear her, and then he began to shout for help again, more desperately this time. Kiley cursed and tried to move the mirror, but it was attached to the wall. What was she going to do? Break the glass? If she did, what would happen? She had done that before and there had been nothing but the back of the mirror and glass in her feet.
She needed help. Kiley slipped back down onto the floor and with her heart caught in her throat, she ran through Chase's room, towel still wrapped tightly around her body. Yanking open the door, Kiley ran into the hall, intending on grabbing the first person she saw. It was a woman with whom Kiley hadn't spoken to very much, and she couldn't recall her name. Not that it mattered in that moment. The woman looked... stressed, but fuck, this was Zenith. Who wasn't stressed.
"I need help," Kiley breathed, motioning frantically. "Inside."
