Who: Kris & OPEN. When: Afternoon. Where: The study with the candlestick.
The long descent the first floor had given Kris more than enough time to cool his heels after the spat he'd initiated with Daniel. He knew he had brought the whole incident on himself, but the other man's remarks wormed too deeply into his brain to allow him any other reaction than what had occurred. Now he felt appropriately shamed and, what was more, unwilling to go back to apologize -- the stairs nonwithstanding. With the power out and the temperature steadily dropping, he made slow passage to a familiar location: the study. Thankfully, someone had started a fire in the fireplace. Drawing closer to it, he warmed his hands for a moment, balancing carefully with his cane hovering a few inches off the floor as he brought fingers closer to the flames.
Then he took his time in selecting a book, this one fiction, something sci-fi that he could sink into and forget everything else that was going on. Taking a seat closest to the fire, he settled in and opened the paperback, allowing it to suck him into its world.
