Kate felt herself tense at his suggestion, just a bit, even as she smiled at his assessment. Some of those things struck an uncomfortable chord with her, and she shook her head briefly before dropping it to his shoulder. "No," she said immediately, though not harshly. "He's a friend; I don't want anything to get in the way of that. And anyway, I'm fine. This will pass." She'd had her fill of therapists as a kid, going from one to another in a steady progression as each failed to make progress with her. Maybe she'd been stubborn, or maybe they hadn't been the right fit, but the only thing she'd ever taken away from those sessions was a love of drawing.
