Cecilia would have suggested that Kate could have all kinds of family on her biological father's side without knowing it, but the papers she provided made it rather a moot point. Cecilia scanned over the birth certificates, trying to imagine what Kate's first few days in this place must have been like. She knew that everyone's experience was a little different, some more traumatic than others, and had always tried to keep in mind what would make things in any way easier for the newer arrivals. Kate's first few days must have simply been hell, and it was just another checker on the scales of hatred Cecilia had been steadily building for the past few months.
A few of times in Cecilia's working life, she'd had a patient undergoing some strange and internal thing, doctors trying quickly to determine what on earth could be causing it. They'd send her, Cecilia, in for family history, trying to figure out if maybe the problem was some genetic condition, only to have the patient answer that they'd been adopted, and there was really no way to find that information quickly. Some handled it with a shrug, some she could tell it really troubled them. Cecilia was reminded of those patients now. She had to wonder if anyone else in the house was adopted, if anyone else was maybe going to learn things about their family they hadn't known before. It was sick. The worst part was Cecilia really had nothing good or comforting to say about this. Hell, she hadn't even realized twins were still split up in adoption. It seemed ridiculously old fashioned to her mind somehow, and perhaps a bit barbaric. "We're gonna have to see how many others in the house find a flaw in the system," Cecilia finally said, handing the papers back. "That's the only way we can prove or disprove it. It's all still very possible that this is an elaborate fake, something they planned for to shake things up. I sure wouldn't put it past them."
