"Thank you for asking me," Kate said, grinning happily as Neptune was fitted into his new vest. "I really enjoy doing improvisational stuff like this. I wish I'd had slightly better materials on hand, but I think I was lucky enough that Oliver had such a big bag that he was willing to donate to the cause. I'd like to do another if I can get my hands on some tougher nylon material, maybe, so if he gets wet it'll dry faster and won't be as heavy, but this turned out better than I expected for being the first ever dog vest I've made." She knelt next to Cecilia, scanning carefully for any places where it might dig in or chafe, but she didn't see any. "I've got the leftovers saved for repairs," she said, "or if you notice anything needs adjusting after it gets a real field test, so just let me know."
She shifted slightly, then, from kneeling to sitting on the edge of her couch. "So, what's up?" she asked. "Not doing the party thing either?" She hadn't been keen on taking the elevator down; she still didn't trust that it wouldn't just not open when she was on it. There was nothing essential to her well-being that was down there, anyway. But Cecilia hadn't been the type to stop by for a random visit, either - not that Kate wouldn't welcome it, but she got the sense that it wasn't Cecilia's typical style. "Is everything okay?"
