The rest of the house had been strange, but this game room seemed somehow stranger. To Daniel's mind it might have been less out of place in a themed kids' restaurant. The presence of booze helped, as did the slightly decreased noise coming from the karaoke room. And he supposed it was highly unlikely anyone dressed as an anthropomorphic rodent would come and join the party, but given other things that had apparently occurred within these walls it did not seem entirely impossible, either. He sighed softly, well aware that after a few months in this place, even a rigged claw machine and Skee-Ball might seem like blessings from heaven to him.
"You are not wrong. The least they can do, if you ask me..." Daniel sipped as he circled her, stopping just in front of the machine beside hers. He pressed the button and listened to the clacking of the wooden balls. He shifted his drink to his left hand, then reached for one ball with his right. He tossed it lazily into the air, catching it in his curled palm. He was confident, that was clear. Whether there was any skill to back that up remained to be seen. "Loser goes for refills?"
