Jack made sure he was early enough so that he could squeeze himself and the mobile cart of food into the elevator before the crowds started showing up. Crowds, he was sure, was relative, but as far as he was concerned everyone in the house could use a little chill time.
The cart was full of a good portion of the food that had been made over the course of the afternoon, though the fridge and freezer were also now full of soups and easy to heat meals in case the power went out. The idea had been a good one, and he made sure to let Pam know that a few times while she helped him and Juno in the kitchen. For the party, there were all kinds of dips and platters, finger foods and sauces. He'd also done his best to pile plates and napkins just in case people decided to migrate away from the chow table.
Even before the doors to the elevator opened he heard the notes from the karaoke machine, and he came out singing boisterously. Music, as was made obvious, wasn't one of his talents, but he grin and wagged his hips back and forth in time with the beat as he made his way across the floor and toward Kai, his moves getting sillier as he progressed. He really was happy, relieved, excited, and a little sorry to see her, and the evidence of both Gemma and Reginald's respective returns. In the back of his mind there was always that slight hope that people went home after they disappeared from the house. Maybe some did.
