Since he seemed all right, like he could handle company, Kiley sat down on the couch across from his chair, her hands clasped in between her knees. She really wanted a cigarette. This was all so weird. She wanted to ask him every single question crowding her mind, but Kiley supposed she ought to wait for Chase to come back with the tea, even though she doubted she had that much patience.
"There's been a lot of stuff going on," Kiley said. "I mean, obviously the experiments and everything. We ended up on a beach for a few days before Halloween. Oh, and a fourth floor was added to the house. And a basement." Kiley paused and glanced around. "And you got my room. It looks much nicer now, though, then it did when it was mine. There's a security floor that they added, but that was mostly for Simms the psycho."
