Kiley didn't know what to think. She was quiet from the moment she and Chase decided to check her old room to see if Reginald was really back. Of course a part of her believed it was a trick. Because she was pretty convinced that the people who were taken from the house were all dead. But if Reginald was back, did that mean others were back? Or would be back? Billy? Noah? Kiley wasn't sure what any of this meant, or if it was even real.
With her arms folded across her chest, Kiley let Chase take the lead. While Chase might have given them room to run after knocking, Kiley dug her heels into the carpet. If this wasn't real, she sure as hell planned on confronting what it was. A stupid decision, sure, but it wasn't like Kiley had a track record of intelligent choices.
But the door opened and Reginald was there, looking exactly the same, if a bit... older? Tired? Something. Kiley stared at him. The first person she met the morning she woke up in Zenith. Probably one of five people she'd actually respected. Yeah, Kiley was pretty convinced They had killed him. Or he'd died in his sleep or something and They took him out of the house.
Her greeting had formed in her mind, but her mouth refused to cooperate, so Kiley stepped into her old room. It looked nothing like it used to, which... of course it wouldn't.
"So how do we know you're real, though?" Kiley finally asked, turning back to look at Reginald. "I mean, you could be a pod person. Or... a robot. Or... something else. An imposter." She didn't want to bombard him with questions. Kiley knew how annoying that would have been for her. But she wanted to know he was who he said he was, no matter how ridiculous.
