Kris likewise had no inkling of a man in any basement. He wasn't keen on the idea of going subterranean, not when he already had so many stairs to contend with. Scooting forward in his chair, he made sure his cane was firmly in place before picking up a fork and pulling the omelet toward himself. The smell was enthralling, and despite having calmed his appetite somewhat with the danish, it roared back to life in his stomach as the food was presented to him. He took a bite, chewed, his demeanor lightening as his face lost its angry cast.
"If you're about to say there're monsters here, I wouldn't be too surprised after everything that's happened," he added after swallowing his food, washing the egg down with tea.
