Daniel was reaching for the leftover danishes before the plate had fully settled onto the table's surface. His hand hovered over what few were left, moving from the space above one, then another, until at last it alighted on one. "Tea's fine with me, too," he said. "Especially if you're already making a pot for him. Not trying to put anyone out too much. Not yet, anyway. Earl Grey or Lapsang Souchong preferred." He winked playfully at Kris. "You better not drink it weak though. We definitely can't share if that's how you do."
He bit down on the danish, immediately grateful it turned out to be cheese-filled. Small favors, he thought to himself. It was perhaps not as fresh as it could have been, but it would do the job in the pinch he found himself in. "Good stuff," he mumbled. He raised the bitten half of the danish. "These yours, too?"
