Cecilia couldn't really help but smile. It was ridiculous and childish, but just hearing him say those words, we're together, gave her something of a thrill. It was that honeymoon sort of stage where the littlest things were somehow wildly exciting.
"Minimal gloating, all things considered," Cecilia confirmed. "He probably would have been way douchier about it if he wasn't mentally exhausted. I'd just torn him a new one a few days before that, and that same morning I told him about... Well, about what we found on my door. And why They might have written it on there." She thought on it for a couple of seconds. "He was definitely happy about it, though. There was an unsaid 'I told you so' just dangling in the air."
