Well, shit, that hadn't gone well. Erran's feelings about being recognised varied unpredictably, running the gamut from discomfort to embarrassment to cautious satisfaction, but he really hated to see other people feeling awkward about it. And maybe she was just stressed out enough that seeing anybody at all was scary right now, which was a completely justifiable way to feel. He debated for a second about whether he should just let her go and have her space, then decided that would just make things even more awkward the next time they ran into each other. Which would probably be happening fairly often, when she was right across the hall.
To the closed door, he said, "Hey, listen, you're not the first one to be freaked out in this place, okay? Totally normal. Do you want to talk about it, maybe? If you have questions or you just want to vent to someone, whatever. Or I can just go on about my business here, if you need a minute."
