Who: Roman and Owen, with occasional outbursts from Simms Where: 4th floor When: After this
Roman was sitting on the landing with Simms cuffed to the railing next to him; it was a pain in the ass if anyone needed to get by, but they could move Simms somewhere else shortly, probably to one of the empty bedrooms. He wasn't sure whether the gothy statue in the empty room was bolted down or not, but if so that room might work as a holding cell too. Because he was used to long, annoying periods of downtime, he'd brought a book with him from his room, half reading it and half paying attention to the sounds of people moving around the house.
The level of anger, fear, and vengefulness in the house right now bothered him, even though it was sort of what Zenith had asked Experiment B to do, and it bothered him because he wasn't sure it was an energy they could control. If Simms got locked up in the jail cell in town, it wouldn't end with him. Someone else would become public enemy #1 next, and given the way things were going with Chase and Lila, that could be the next crisis. Roman didn't have to be told that They wouldn't bail any Experiment B people out, and it was probably a good guess that the team would get punished if more than one of them got nailed to the wall for causing trouble. Felix and Daphne were completely right; cooler heads had to prevail. Felix and Daphne probably also had self-serving reasons for saying so, but that didn't make them wrong.
So the meeting, or the kangaroo court or whatever, would be important for precedent. Which meant he had a short window of time to earn some respect from Cecilia's Curia, starting with the very generous gift that Simms had made of his behaviour that morning. After all the research you've done on these people, if you can't do anything with them then you really are as stupid as everyone thinks.
