Who: Lila [Narrative] Where: Kiley, Kate and Jack's rooms When: Late morning after this
Once settled safely back in her room with a pillowcase of caltrops, Lila sat down at her computer and flipped on the private feeds. There were a few rooms she was interested in and Lila focused in on the first. Kiley's room was currently empty. Lila searched the rest of the house to track her down. Lila found her out by the pool, smoking. Turning back to the other feeds, Lila began to take mental notes of which rooms were empty, and where their owners were.
After a moment of further contemplation, Lila stood and flipped off the network. Then she left the room, pillowcase in hand. She wished she had a portable computer. Or those walkie talkies she had thought about earlier. That would have made this much easier. As it was, she had to plan accordingly, and be prepared in case someone came across her. Lila placed a few articles of clothing in the pillow case, surrounding the box. If anyone stopped her, she was simply on her way to do her laundry.
Lila hit Kiley's bedroom first. She didn't have unlimited caltrops, so she had to choose her targets carefully. Kiley's room was next to Marco's, and Lila would have loved the guy fucking up his feet again, but she wasn't sure how smart it would be to try and get inside after everything that had gone down the last two days. People would be checking on Marco, surely.
Besides, she was fucking with Chase today. Not the useless addict. He had already cracked. Lila wanted to push the other weirdo to the edge this time. Lila glanced around once more before opening Kiley's door and slipping quietly inside. She crouched down and placed a generous amount of caltrops just inside the door, close enough that Kiley was likely to step on at least three or four before she even knew what was happening. Hopefully the girl would come back to her room before Chase returned home and could alert people.
With that finished, Lila slipped out of the room and shut the door, walking swiftly across the hall to Kate's room. The woman was still in town as far as Lila could tell, so she opened the door and repeated the same process. She didn't use as many caltrops as she had in Kiley's room, but somehow Lila doubted Kate would be thinking about checking her floor when she returned from town. Lila was betting on the woman being a bit tired from the ride, and with whatever Felix had done to the bikes in the first place. Lila told herself she chose Kate because the woman was gone and it was an easy opportunity, but really, Kate was one of the Four that seemed to have taken over leadership. Cecilia, Owen, Oliver and Kate. Cecilia and Owen's rooms were near the kitchen, where a few people had already convened and were trying to figure out the mess TPTB had left. Lila couldn't risk placing caltrops in Cecilia or Owen's rooms, as she might be seen. And based on the feeds, Oliver was currently in his room. That was a no go.
The kitchen debacle also pretty much took out of play the whole first floor. As Lila left Kate's room, her mind was working, playing over her options. Maybe she didn't have to get rid of all the caltrops this morning. She could hit a few bedrooms and stash the rest in her room to target a few more people another day. Lila knew as soon as the caltrops were found - hopefully covered in blood - Chase would want them back. But he wouldn't get them all back and he, and maybe the others, would wonder what happened to them. Wouldn't it be nice if that drove him a little crazy? People would be on their toes, maybe literally, keeping an eye out for them. Lila could wait a few days for complacency to settle in and then place a few more in unexpected places.
But... knowing Jack was still downstairs in the kitchen, Lila made her way all the way to the fourth floor. She wondered if Felix was watching. She hung around outside of Jack's room for a moment before turning the doorknob and slipping inside. Jack could very well be in the kitchen for awhile, long after Chase returned and people knew his caltrops were gone. Jack might be wary opening his door, considering what should happen to Kiley and Kate. So Lila moved fast, finding a pair of Jack's sneakers. She placed two caltrops inside one shoe, deep near the toe. This one was for Simms, more than anything.
Lila replaced the shoe and quietly slipped out of the room, relieved that no one had seen her as far as she could tell. Carrying the bag with the rest of the caltrops back downstairs to her room, Lila moved swiftly. Once inside, she pulled out the cereal box and the clothes, pouring the caltrops into the pillow case itself.
After a moment's pause, Lila took out three caltrops and set them on the floor near her door. She got a damp washcloth from the bathroom and went back to the caltrops. Clenching her jaw tight, Lila slipped off her shoes, leaving her socks on. And then she purposely stepped her right foot onto the three caltrops. Not hard enough to do major damage, but enough for her to bite her lip against the shriek, muffled by her arm. The pain was burning and intense already. Cursing loudly, Lila hopped to the bed on her good foot and sat, pulling the caltrops out of her heel. She was bleeding heavily through her sock. Lila inhaled deeply and rolled the sock off before using the washcloth to try and stop the blood. It wasn't as bad as Kate, Jack and Kiley might get, but it was bad enough that Lila could play victim. "Shit. Only a fucking psychopath would make these in this place." Lila exhaled slowly and set the caltrops on the bedside table as proof once the shit hit the fan.
It took some time but once she felt like she could move, Lila stood and grabbed the pillowcase. Hobbling significantly, Lila lifted the corner of her mattress and placed the pillowcase underneath. She breathed heavily through the pain and neatly made her bed. There would be no reason for anyone to suspect her but it didn't hurt to cover her tracks. With that finished, Lila limped over to her computer and sat. She turned on the feeds again, and waited.
