Kate had - thankfully - just finished doing her eye makeup when Pam screamed, or else she might have lost an eye when the earsplitting shriek filtered its way through her door. As it was, she jumped about a foot before dropping her book and opening the door. Marco was right up against the wall next to her door, Juno beside him, Pam in her own doorway, and it took Kate a second to think to look up, where the mess that had apparently started it all was hanging. "Good Lord," she said, hand over her mouth. Her first instinct was to ask what the hell was wrong with Pam, but the woman looked nearly as shell-shocked as Marco did and she just didn't have that level of guile in her.
She heard Juno talk of cleaning it; if this were in the real world, she would have suggested waiting so the authorities could look for clues - fingerprints, photographs, the like - but they didn't have any means of doing that in the mansion, and leaving it up would only hurt Marco and Pam further. She disappeared back into her room for a moment, reappearing with a big bath towel that she held out to Juno. "I'll get cleaning supplies," she said to the other girl. "If you want to get it down, I'll go mix up something that will hopefully get the paint off the wall." She had a decent homebrew that was pretty good at cleaning up paints after too many accidents with acrylics, but if the paint in the carpet had dried it might be too late.
