Owen was aware of how crazy all of this sounded. But at the same time, he wished all of the originals in the house had someone around to explain it to them the way new people did now. He and the others had to figure it out on their own. They'd experienced the shocks first hand, and it hadn't been pleasant.
"Obviously whoever is doing this has unlimited resources," Owen said dryly. "There's been a lot of speculation about it, but every theory sounds pretty crazy. But they test us... mentally, physically. Usually on the day of a test, you'll see your computer light blinking red. It means they've left us a message with instructions. Other days we may wake up somewhere completely different and we'll get instructions there. And then there are times we don't hear from them at all, but we'll experience weird shit in the house, or out and about. We'll see things... hear things. People talking who aren't there... apparitions in mirrors, or in your room. The power may go out for days at a time. We had a storm where hundreds of birds dive bombed the house. All of the maintenance and cleaning is on us here, so that was a pain in the ass. The best thing for you guys to do is to spend some time on the network. Read as far back as it'll let you. You'll get plenty of information from that."
