"Careful," Owen said. "That tiny, little angry thing can kick your ass. I know this from experience." He didn't want anyone disrespecting Cecilia, or assuming that since she was a woman, she didn't deserve the same courtesy as Owen.
Owen folded his arms across his chest. So Simms had met Oliver already. Owen wondered how that had gone, if the guy had attacked Jack down here. Though Owen knew Oliver was more than capable of taking care of himself, he thought maybe someone ought to check on the other guy, just in case.
"I don't know what Oliver already told you, but this is what I know. All of us here were taken from home. We all woke up here, just like you, with an IV and a sore neck from the implant." Owen gave Simms a pointed look. "Yes, there's an implant. If you need proof of it, I'll go with you to the edge of town where the barriers are and you can experience the shock first hand. No one knows why we're here, or what the end game is, but a handful of us has been here over a month. Others have come and gone. The people in charge occasionally test us, both with physical and psychological tests. They fuck with us a lot. But we don't have any answers as to why, and that's the truth."
