Owen had nearly forgotten about Evie showing up in her wedding dress. He hoped she was home now, with her fiancee. Owen's cynical side, which was very loud, doubted it, but he figured it was healthier to try and cling to a tiny string of optimism. "Why don't you see the point in celebrating, if everyone else will be? I think you deserve a cake, or whatever Jack plans on doing, as much as anyone." Cecilia might be annoyed with it, but Owen would make sure Jack knew Cecilia's birthday had passed as well.
"As for me, I might have been alone. I have friends, but over the past couple of years I've done a pretty extraordinary job of pushing them all away. I haven't been terribly social." Owen grinned. "I know that's pretty shocking."
