Cecilia couldn't help but laugh a little, and she certainly understood the sentiment. "Actually, I think if you'd told me a few months ago I'd be in a costume, in a cable car, going to a Halloween party in a tropical location with a friend, I would have found that harder to believe than the kidnapping and abandoned mountain town." It struck her how true that was. Being in this place had shed some perspective on her life, not that she thought it mattered much now. She wasn't sure if she believed they'd ever go home.
As the car started to move Cecilia looked around at the decorations, but she refocused her attention on Owen's face when he spoke. She gave a rueful little smile and shook her head. "I'd probably be working," she admitted. "I live in a bubble back home. Of my own design, but... yeah. The only friends I even vaguely keep in contact with are back in New York. I was supposed to meet up with some of them for my birthday, but the kidnapping took care of that. I usually volunteer to work holidays." Weird that it was only being here that made her realize how unhealthy her life had been. "The most I'd do is some animal ear headband with my scrubs on my shift. What about you?"
