Who ? Hannon and Gavriel Where ? Oklahoma! When ? July 14, afternoon What ? Hannon takes Gavriel to meet his family.
Gavriel was doing so well in school with his summer classes that Hannon thought he deserved a week or so away and made plans to take his boyfriend with him on a little road trip. Of course, the fact that he had to go to his family reunion and didn't want to go there alone (again) certainly was didn't hurt Gavriel's chances either. It had been a long car ride there but that was half the fun. They stayed in cheap motels and swam in outdoor pools he couldn't believe he'd even gotten into without a shirt on the next day. When they finally got to his hometown, Broken Arrow Oklahoma, they stayed with his parents.
Hannon's mother Patricia was a nice woman, friendly without being overly so, who took care of the seven farm cats from the next door. His father, Thomas, was a skinny gardener who a loud laugh and a penchant for Western novels. Both of them were youth pastors and greeted Gavriel warmly into their house even if they both found it a little odd that Gavriel had such young friends.
During the day, Hannon's parents were good at leaving them alone. They had a lot on their hands though organizing the reunion, making last minute plans, greeting family members that came, driving constantly back and forth from the airport. Hannon's sister had yet to show up but she would sooner or later.
At the moment the two of them were alone in the one story ranch style house. The finished basement belonged to Hannon's uncle's family and their six children which was a shame since it was also the best room in the house. They did have one perk though - a door that locked. Hannon's old bedroom was theirs, it was small, even smaller with the sleeping bag meant for Hannon on the floor.
"Are you completely overwhelmed yet?" Hannon asked Gavriel. They were in the kitchen and Hannon was finally getting his hands on the watermelon he'd been eying for about two days in the refrigerator. It was orange inside instead of pink but still tasted the same.
