Who: Jeremy and Griffith When: After school. In the afternoon Where: Griffith's room --> Arthur's car --> The road What: Jeremy tries to cheer Griffith up because he got freaked out by the firebomb thing. They end up stranded.
Jeremy had heard that it was indeed Griffith's class that had been attacked and he at once felt the rush of anger, worry, panic, relief then back to anger and worry. He had been looking for Griff since the attack but the other boy didn't seem to be found anywhere. Ultimately Jer just ended up asking one of Griffith's family members about his whereabouts and it turned out the poor boy hadn't even left his room since the attack other than for classes. Jeremy felt bad, for some reason that he couldn't understand. He finally managed to gather up a small collection of snacks and things into a bucket, including two wrapped up peanut butter sandwiches, which Jeremy had seen Griffith eating on numerous occasions. Jer also remembered Griffith's brain and went to the library.
In truth he had NO idea where to start in picking out a book, since Griffith seemed to have read them all, but he finally just ended up picking two or three and putting them in the bucket too. Jogging up to the emo boy's bedroom, Jer grinned as he held the bucket of treats and novels in one hand and knocked on the door with the other.
It was true that Griffith hadn't been out of his room, except to go for classes. To say that having a bomb land in the middle of class was frightening would be and understatement. It took him back to the mob at Times Square earlier in the year. Luckily Claudia had been with him and she had remained level headed as she grabbed him and made for the exits. They had only suffered minor bumps and bruises. But Griffith had always been prone to trauma and no matter what his siblings did he stayed holed up in his room. It was too bad...he was just starting to get the confidence to make friends.
He was reading as the knock sounded, and for a moment Griffith stared at the door. Arthur had a key...so he didn't need to knock. After waiting for another few moments, he got up and opened the door a little, peeking out. "Oh..." He blinked as he looked at Jeremy. "Hello..."
Jeremy smiled and flipped him a salute. "Hey dude!" He grinned widely at Griffith and then held up the bucket of things he had put together for Griffith. "I came bringing gifts, man." He shrugged a little. "I heard you were holed up in here since the big bang and I wanted to make sure you were ok. Is it ok if I come in man? If you want I can go?" He shrugged, trying to smooth talk his way into helping Griffith feel better.
Gifts? Griffith looked at the bucket in Jeremy's hand. A surprised look crossed his face as he saw what was inside. If Claudia had been around, she probably would have whacked him upside the head and said something along the lines of, ''What did you expect? He was going outside to build sandcastles?' But that aside, Griffith nodded a little and reached for the bucket...there were two sandwiches in it he noticed. "Thank you..." He told Jeremy in his usual polite way. "You didn't have to though..." But when had he last ate? Griffith's stomach rumbled a little as the thought entered his mind.
"Come in..." He said then, feeling a blush creep up his cheeks. No, he wouldn't send Jeremy away.
Jeremy grinned as Griffith took the bucket. He hoped that he had picked the right books and that Griffith hadn't read them and he didn't mess up the sandwiched, then again who could mess up peanut butter sandwiches...well, with his luck, Jeremy could. He smiled and trotted on into the room and looked around then back to Griff.
"Er, I didn't know what books you hadn't read but I know how you love to read and...stuff." He shrugged his shoulders under his wife beater, which is all he seemed to own aside from t-shirts, and scratched his head under his backwards baseball cap. "And I know you like peanut butter so...yeah, there ya go! I put some Take 5s in there too!"
He was looking through the contents of the bucket as he shut the door. Griffith wasn't too worried that his room wasn't presentable to guests...he was always in the habit of cleaning up after Arthur and had done another good job today. "I can understand why you like Take 5s so much now." He said as he crossed the room and sat on his bed. Gingerly, Griffith took out the books and gave them a once over. "I've read this one." He said, holding up the book for Jeremy to see. "But I have no problems with reading it again. It's funny actually." And speaking of which... "Did you actually go to the library to get me these?" He thought Jeremy didn't like the library much?
Jeremy frowned only a little when Griffith confessed he had read the book but he turned it into a pouty smile and grinned. "Oh well that's good!" He shrugged a little and grinned, kicking the carpet a little as he shoved his hands into his pockets. "Er yeah, I went down there and picked a couple out. That one looked kinda cool, and there's one in there called Gods Behaving Badly. It was like, a best seller or something last year so I figured you'd want to read it and...you know, stuff." He laughed a little and shrugged
"It's nice of you to go..I mean you don't seem to like the library much when I last saw you in there." Griffith said then, ducking his head and speaking softly because he didn't want to offend Jeremy with that comment. Some things could be taken the wrong way and he didn't want the other boy thinking that he was calling him stupid or anything like that. "Gods Behaving Badly...I've heard about that one." Griffith replied, a small smile on his lips. "I've just haven't found the time to get around to it...Have you read it?" Because Jeremy seemed to know that it was a best seller.
"Oh and please have a seat..." He mentioned to the chair in the room but Jeremy could sit anywhere he wanted really.
Jeremy didn't take offence. One day Griffith might realize that Jer was an easy going skater boy who rarely let things bother him. He laughed a little. "Uh...it says so on the sticker on the cover." Which is where he read that the book was a best seller. "Eh, the library ain't so bad I guess. Too quiet though, heh." A joke. He pulled out the chair with his foot before sitting down in the seat backwards, leaning forward over the back of the chair looking at Griffith. "So you gunna stay locked up in here all day, dude?"
He blinked and then fished out the book from the bucket. There it was...the big read sticker with the word 'Bestseller' in bold, black lettering. Before he could stop himself, Griffith laughed and looked up at Jeremy. "At least you've read something from the book." He said, making his own joke. It was getting easier and easier to joke around Jeremy. Oh, that wouldn't stop him from being painfully polite but it meant something that he could joke. At the other boy's question, Griffith looked around the room and shrugged a little.
"Indoors isn't so bad." He said. Well not so bad unless a bomb crashed through his window. "I'm a little nervous about going outside." He mumbled and then added quickly. "It's silly right. Claudia says it's silly....I'm letting the guy win by hiding but..." But he couldn't help it.
Jer made a gasped and shocked face that was clearly a joke and laughed a little. "Hey I read the back too! Its about like...gods and stuff. Greek gods! Like...living among us or something." He laughed a little trying to recall what the book was actually about.
He glanced at Griffith's windows, which of course were covered by curtains and looked back at Griffith. "Eh, its ok I get it." He smirked a little, climbing up off the chair and walking over to Griffith and holding out his hand. "C'mon dude, we can't let em win, right!"
Griffith found himself laughing again. Laughing and nodding. "Oh..ok...you read the back. That's great...do you want me to give you a round of applause?" He carried on with the joke and then took a candy bar out of the bucket and tossed it to Jeremy. "Or will that candy bar do?" Griffith grinned. Perhaps Jeremy's good nature was infectious. He had turned back to the bucket to fish out a candy bar for himself when he heard movement. Looking up, he blinked as Jeremy walked closer and held out his hand.
"You...want to go out?" The question was hesitant. He looked from Jeremy's face to his outstretched hand. You could see that Griffith wanted to say 'No thanks.' Instinct told him to shake his hand and say just that. But his gaze fell on Arthur's dresser and there were the key's to the brother's car and..."Maybe for a drive?" It was safer in a car right. "Arthur left his keys in the room." He took Jeremy's hand and stood, though he could just have stood on his own but it didn't seem right to leave the other boy's hand hanging like that.
Jeremy laughed and caught the candy bar and grinned, looking at it then sticking his tongue out at Griffith. "Oh shut up." he said jokingly. Jeremy laughed a little and nodded. "Yeah man, come on, We gotta get out outa here or you'll be scared and stay in all day everyday!" He smiled and helped Griffith up and tugged him to his feet. "Sweet! A drive would be cool! C'mon lets go!" Jer seemed rather excited to get Griff up and about.
And Griffith noticed it. It was the first time someone outside his family had actually made an effort to have him out of his room. It was a nice feeling all in all and he grinned at Jeremy, looking at the other boy though his curtain of bangs. He made a move to push them out of his eyes and the motion had him slipping his hand from Jer's hold. Yes...there was a two second rule wasn't there? You couldn't keep holding someone else's hand for very long and not look weird. Hurrying over to the dresser he grabbed Arthur's car keys and his brother's cell phone. Griffith's movements were hurried because he was afraid that he'd change his mind. And then he was grabbing the bucket that Jeremy had brought over for him.
"Alright...lets go!" This impromptu thing was kinda fun.
Jer grinned and lifted his arm and stuck his fist into the air. "Yes! Outa here man!" He waited for Griffith to get the keys and his phone before walking to the door and opening it. He grinned at Griffith. "C'mon, lets scram before you change your mind!" No, Jer could not read minds, but he knew that's what Griffith would think. He hurried out the door and jogged down the hall before turning back and looking at Griffith. "C'mon man! We gotta go before your fear catches us!"
Jeremy was actually jogging out of the room? It was one thing for him to hurry but when the other boy did so as well....that only made Griffith move faster. Clutching at the present bucket he shut the door to his room and scurried after the other, looking comical in his over sized clothes and too long hair. "Where...do you want to drive to?" He asked then, a little breathless as he caught up with Jeremy. There were on the stairs and Griffith had to look down from time to time to keep himself from missing a step and falling. "Do you want to go to town or do you have somewhere else in mind." It was a habit of his to at least know where they were headed.
Jer shrugged as he walked along with Griffith. It was funny how they seemed to be rushing and yet had no idea where they were going. It was just a speedy, spur of the moment type deals. He grinned as they went and looked at Griff. "I dunno. We can go into town and like, go to that one frozen yogurt place called Mojo! They have good stuff! Then we can like, go to the park or something?"
Frozen yogurt and then the skate park? That sounded like a good idea to Griffith. He nodded and told Jeremy so..but he couldn't help but point out one little detail. "You don't have your skateboard with you though..." There were near the main doors know, still rushing for the outside, but Griffith could wait for Jeremy to go back upstairs again to get his board if he wanted.
Jer shrugged. "Eh, no worries about it dude, we can just hang out and stuff. Besides, its kinda hard to skate and eat yogurt at the same time." He laughed a litte. Who was he kidding? He could practically hand-stand and skate at the same time, but he just wanted to focus on getting Griffith out and having a good time.
He squinted a little as they exited the main building. The afternoon sun was a bit glaring but he had spent a lot of time indoors with the curtains pulled back. Griffith rubbed his eyes with his free hand and then had to blink the little spots of blackness away. It was a good thing that he spotted Arthur's car in seconds. The red Toyota was parked in it's usual place in between Charlie's beat up Ford Taurus and a sleek blue car that may or may not belong to Noel Washington. Griffith didn't know a lot about cars as a whole but he was observant enough to keep track of which vehicle belonged to whom.
"This way." He said as he hurried over, and then held out the car keys to Jeremy. Arthur would probably not be pleased at the fact that he was letting some strange boy (strange to Arthur anyway) drive the car but Griffith didn't know how to drive and so it was up to Jeremy.
Jer smiled as he hurried over to the car and took the keys from Griffith and unlocked the car for Griffith and himself, climbing inside. "You sure its ok if I drive?"
Was he sure? Griffith slid inside and settled the bucket of candies in between his feet before buckling up. The movements of his fingers were nimble and sure which was a contrast to the growing doubt in his mind. But it would seem silly to back out of things now and so he nodded. "I'm alright with you driving." It was the truth. He was alright with the thought of Jeremy at the wheel. Arthur would be a different story however. "And besides I...can't drive." He grinned at Jeremy impishly and reached out to shut the door. "Lets go!" Griffith should really have looked at the fuel gauge then, but in his excitement to leave he overlooked that simple detail
It was irresponsible for Jer to also not look at the gas gauge but he was too excited about his outing with Griffith. He buckled up and started the car. "Ok well, here we go." he didn't bother to tell Griffith that he hadn't drivin in quite some time since he had no car here, and pulled the car out of the parking space a bit faster than he probably should have.
"Heh...sorry." He shrugged sheepishly before pulling out of the parking lot and driving on the road towards town.
He shot a smile at Jeremy as they peeled out of the parking space. The car brushed just a little too closely to Charlie's car but for the first time Griffith didn't worry about things like that. They didn't hit it and as long as there was no damage that was alright. "You drive like Arthur." He said then, his shoulders raising up and down in a shrug. "I'm used to it." Arthur could be a little speed happy while at the wheel. He had a reckless style of driving which probably came instinctively to all New Yorkers. The remedy for that was staying buckled up. Griffith took a candy bar from the bucket.
"What's the most unusual flavour of yogurt you can think of?" He asked Jeremy then as the went past the main gates of the school.
Jeremy grinned. "Oh well that's good." He laughed a little and continued driving, just slightly above the speed limit, fast enough to be going speedy but not fast enough to get pulled over. He continued driving along towards the yogurt shop he knew and rested his arm on the window sil and rested his other arm on the center console between Griffith and himself.
"Huh....they have tons of cool flavors, and some weird ones like....pumpkin, and like, I dunno, lots of weird stuff like that!"
"Pumpkin?" That was an ood flavour for yogurt. He watched as the trees zipped past and was reminded that today was Earth Day and that some people were off planting trees. Was that were Arthur was? Griffith took a bite of his candy bar and chewed. "I think I'll try that." He said then, he was feeling oddly reckless and well it would be silly to go through all this excitement just to end up having vanilla. "Are we allowed to mix? Maybe I'll have watermelon and pumpkin." And then his face lit up as something occurred to him. "And we can probably crush the candy bars and have them with the yogurt." Griffith was certainly turning out to have quite a sweet tooth.
"What are you going to having?" He asked then, so curious that he didn't hear the engine start to sputter.
Jer continued driving, unaware of Earth Day, although he did know that that movie Earth was supposed to come out today. Maybe that was something Griffith would like to see? Maybe he could ask Griffith if he wanted to see it sometime. As Jer thought, he glanced at him. "Oh, yeah dude, they have watermelon too. I like putting chocolate, vanilla and strawberry together, its freaking good, dude!"
That was when Jer realised the car felt a bit funny under him and he looked at the gages. "Uh....uh oh." He pouted a little. "Crap dude...I think we're outa gas, man."
His statement was met with a confused expression. Griffith's eyes darted towards the fuel gauge and his mouth dropped open. It was just like Arthur not to keep tabs on how much fuel he had in the tank! "Turn it around!" Griffith squealed, upsetting the bucket of candy bars as he wriggled and gestured for Jeremy to make a U-Turn. They had to make it back to the school or else they were in big trouble. But it was all too late now, the sputtering sounds from the engine got louder and more alarming and the car grounded to a halt. Griffith winced, flashing Jeremy a pained look before slumping in his seat. The dead engine seemed to have taken his excitement along with it to the grave.
"Oh god..." He covered his face with his hands.
Jeremy tried to start the car again and again after it died but sadly nothing seemed to work. It simply was out of gas. He sighed and hit his hand gently against the steering well. "Fuck." He muttered to himself. He glanced over at Griffith and frowned. This certainly was not part of the plan. "Here, c'mon over to this side dude, you need to steer."
He still had his face in his hands. There didn't seem to be anywhere near town and the school was quite a ways behind them. It was just their luck to be stuck in the middle of nowhere. Not surprisingly the 'I'm sorrys' started to bubble up and Griffith would have started in on them if Jeremy hadn't said anything. But as he was the other boy mentioned something about steering and Griffith looked up, peeking from between his fingers. "Steer what?" Griffith could be a whiz in the classroom but in practical day to life things...he was just a dumbass.
Jer opened the door and unbuckled his seat belt. "Well you gotta steer the car dude up over to the side there. I'll get out and push." He offered Griffith a smile. "C'mon dude, no worries." He realized that wasn't the perfect thing to say right now but damn it he was going to give Griffith a good time, car or no car. Yogurt or no yogurt.
Push a car? A whole car? And in the middle of the afternoon? He couldn't let Jeremy do that! What if the other boy suffered from heat stroke!? Looking over, anybody would have said that the spot Jeremy was pointing to wasn't that far but from Griffith's pessimistic point of view it could very well have been China. So he reached over and grabbed Jeremy's arm. "No you can't go out and push!" The exclamation was combined with a pout. "I mean...it's hot out and pushing a car requires at least two people." Did they really need to get the car over to the other side? "I can push...it's my brother's car." And it had been his idea to take the car out after all
Jeremy was already in the middle of stepping out of the car. "C'mon dude, its no biggie. I'm strong!" he laughed and lifted his arm and flexed a little before tugging off his shirt and tossing it into the back seat. "C'mon, climb over here and put it in neutral. You steer it over there and hit the break when its in place." It was too late for Griffith to object, Jeremy already started to move towards the rear of the car.
"Jeremy!" He would have reached out and pulled Jeremy back into the car if it weren't for the seat belt he still had around him. Pouting and frowning, Griffith quickly unbuckled himself and shifted over to the driver's seat. He put his hand gingerly on the wheel and since he hadn't bothered to close the door turned and looked out of it at Jeremy. "Promise to take a break every five minutes?" He called, looking pale and worried as he peeked out of the car. It was obvious that Griffith did not like this at all though he did put the stick to neutral and said, "Ready!" To indicate that Jeremy should start pushing.
Jeremy smiled and hurried back to the driver side to look at Griffith through the window. "No worries, it wont take that long. Just steer, the car is easy to push when its in neutral." He gave Griffith a soft, pat on the shoulder and shaking him a little. "Don't worry." He then hurried back to the back of the car and started pushing once Griffith had told him and continued to push his full weight against the car, slowly pushing it.
When told not to worry, he just gave Jeremy a forlorn look. Telling Griffith to keep such feelings at bay was like telling the Earth to stop orbiting around the Sun. But he kept quiet after that...well relatively quiet. Every few seconds or so he would call out to Jeremy with things like, "Are you alright back there?" and "Would you like to stop and rest?" He even looked for things to hold the steering wheel in his stead so that he could hop out and help Jeremy with the pushing. But there was nothing. Arthur must have cleaned out the car again...and he couldn't use candy bars and a small bucket.
Jeremy continued to shout back, again and again, amidst small tired laughs, "No dude, its all good!" He continued pushing and pushing the car until finally, after a couple minutes he managed to push the car far enough and with Griffith steering, it was safely off the road and away from traffic. Jeremy stood and took a deep breath hitting the back of the car with his hand to signal Griffith to park the car and put on the emergency break before walking back around the car and slumping against the side of the car, sweating a big, looking at Griffith through the window. "Heh...see...told you."
He fumbled a little as he put the car in park and pulled up the emergency break. And then really, he didn't care about the car anymore. Griffith would have gladly jumped right out of it, to help Jeremy back into the car...but the other boy was already walking over. "You can rest in the backseat..." Griffith said already scrambling to open the doors and to pull Jeremy back into the car. He didn't seem to care that the other boy was really sweaty. "Sit down ok...hurry." He continued to babble, as if Jeremy was going to die if he remained on his feet. Griffith felt like kicking something because the air conditioner in the car wasn't working anymore but he spotted one of those hand held battery operated fans on the floor of the back seat and held it up. Now he had something to cool Jeremy off with!
Jeremy laughed a little and let himself be pulled into the back seat. He was pretty tired so he rested down on the seat and sighed a little in relief and laid back and closed his eyes then he felt his slightly sweaty face and chest meet a cool soft breeze. "Huh?" He opened his eyes and laughed a little. "Ah dude come on, relax! I'm fine. I'm not gunna die or anything!"
"Still..." Griffith replied, still keeping the pathetic little fan aimed at Jeremy. "Why did you have to push the car all the way here...it was fine where it was." Obviously he hadn't realized that the stalled car was a road and traffic hazard. "And I could have pushed it really..." Griffith started to move then, quickly opening all of the car doors because he didn't want Jeremy to feel all stuffy. And then he was crawling into the backseat with the other boy, just so that he bring the fan and the little breeze he was generating closer to Jeremy.
"I'm sorry." You could never keep that phrase at bay for long when it came to Griffith. "I should have checked how much fuel was in the car and now I've dragged you all the way here and you ended up pushing and it's really not fair." Emo emo emo.
Jeremy laughed and lifted his hand to push the small fan away but he missed and just shook his head and sighed. He watched as Griffith opened the doors and tried to protect but couldn't help but just laughed a little and just watched as Griffith climbed into the back seat. "Dude, its alright, calm down." He lifted his hand to grab Griffith's wrist softly and lowered the fan. "I'm fine, man, really." He laughed a little and sighed and grabbed Griffiths wrist again. "Dude, seriously, its ok, calm down. Its not your fault, man! Just....calm down." he smiled at Griffith.
But it was his fault. Griffith bit his lower lip and looked at the little fan. It's blades were made out of foam so he didn't have to worry about accidentally cutting Jeremy. Not bothering to turn it off he simply let the other boy hold onto his wrist as he tried to calm himself down. There were still in the middle of nowhere and they had to get the car back to the school somehow. Griffith was unwilling to leave the car here and walk to town or back to the school. This is what he got when he took his brother's car out without permission.
"What are we going to do?" He asked Jeremy softly, looking into the other boy's smiling face.
Jeremy shrugged a little and looked right back at Griffith. "No worries dude." He sat up a little and slipped an arm around Griffith's shoulder to give him a short little hug before pulling his arm away and laying back against the seat. "Cant we just call your family and they could come get us, then we can get gas and drive the car back." Before Griffith could say anything Jer held up one hand. "No worries dude, I'll take the fall and pay for the gas and if you even think about arguing that I'll give you the worst Indian rug-burn you have ever gotten!" he obviously was joking, and Jeremy smiled. He wanted Griffith to feel better, even if they were stuck. "Come on dude...relax." His voice softened. "Just...take it all in stride. At least we're still out and about right?"
What was an Indian rug burn? Griffith blinked but then put on a serious expression. "I'm not letting you take the blame." He said then, in a tone that said he didn't want an argument on this. "I'll tell Arthur the truth and that it was my idea to take his car out." Jeremy should know that Griffith wasn't one to lie. The expressions he wore were always too earnest to be that of a liars. It was that same look that Griffith was giving Jeremy now. "I guess we can do that..." He said as he reached for Arthur's cellphone. "But...I have Arthur's cell with me." So there was no chance to reaching his brother. "I could try to call our room...or Claudia or Justin." The minutes passed as he tried all those numbers but no one picked up.
Griffith bit his lip and then found something. The number for a tow-truck. "Could this help us?" He showed the number to Jeremy. "Could you talk to them?" Because he was no good with talking to strangers. Remember the time when Griffith was trying to explain to Jeremy how to do a book report? The tables had seriously turned.
Jeremy sighed and nodded. "Alright dude, fine, you can tell them whatever you'd like." He still offered Griffith a smile. Jer did NOT want Griffith getting any more freaked out or anything like that, so he just kept quiet while Griff made the calls.
He then looked at the number then shrugged at Griffith. "Uh sure, I can talk to them if you want." He took the phone from Giff, holding it to his ear and waiting as the phone rang.
"Thanks..." He leaned against the seat and let Jeremy have the phone. Griffith visibly crossed his fingers as he let Jeremy talk to the people from the tow-truck place. He felt kinda useless and was only now realizing that this always happened whenever something stressful happened. He was just used to his siblings being the level headed, clear thinking and fast acting ones. He was always used to people protecting him and leading him around. It was certainly not a good realization. Absently he reached out and touched Jeremy's hand, brushing his fingers along the other's skin. But Griffith didn't say anything...he just let Jeremy finish the call.
Jeremy talked with the tow-truck people for a short while, eventually working them over till he was able to get a very cheap offer for them to come and tow the car back to the school. He smiled and nodded. "Thanks dude, you're awesome....yeah we'll be waiting here...Eh, that's ok, we'll just wait." The skater boy hung up and handed the cell phone back to Griffith, smiling at him, keeping his hand still under Griff's fingers. "No worries dude, they're on their way, although it'll probably take a while. We'll have to just wait here. You ok with that, dude?"
Griffith had been busy listening to Jeremy talk. It seemed to easy to talk to some complete stranger and the other boy even negotiated some kind of deal. It was nothing short of amazing. He took the phone away from Jeremy and just looked at him, his thoughts clearly written on his face. "I'm...alright with that." Griffith replied, a little lost on what to say. "That...was amazing what you just did." Because if it was up to him, he'd probably be stuttering. He would probably end up living in the car until his siblings realized that he was missing and went to look for him. "You're really smart Jeremy." Griffith told the other boy earnestly.
Jeremy laughed and shrugged. "No problem dude, its covered." He looked at Griffith and grinned again, always glad getting compliments from Griffith because Jer had always thought the other boy was far smarter than him, which he was. Jer's brains looked like scrambled eggs next to Griffith's, so Jer just smiled and looked down a little, twiddling his thumbs in front of his chest as he rested back against the back seat. "Heh it was nothing dude. I just talked to the guy, no biggie. You're the smart one."
He shook his head. "I'm smart? The only thing I do is read..." Reading wasn't that hard. It didn't require any type of interpersonal skills that Jeremy had just shown. "You got them to lower the price for you. You got them to actually come down here and help us...that's not nothing." It was something to be admired and you could bet that Griffith was doing said admiring right about now. He moved them pulling leaning over the front seat to pull the key out of the ignition and then to grab some candy bars off the floor.
"At least we still have these." Griffith said, putting the candy bars between them. And then he was looking curiously at Jeremy again. "Where did you learn how to speak to people like that." With any luck there was a book out there that taught such things...but that wasn't really likely.
Jeremy just smiled and looked down, glad to hear Griffith had liked what he had done. He had wanted nothing but to impress Griff since they had met and now he was finally doing it. He blushed just a little, which was something Jer didn't do unless his mother was around.
He smiled and picked up one of the candy bars and tore it open, as pushing a car made a muscled skater boy hungry! He took a bite from the chocolaty bar and looked at Griffith. "I dunno I just...talk like that. I guess you can credit my mom or whatever." He laughed and shrugged.
He found himself smiling a bit. "Your mom? ...Alright." He seemed to notice that Jeremy was blushing but in Griffith's head he explained the redness in the other boy's cheeks away by thinking that the boy was getting hot again. Instantly he switched on the little hand held fan again. "It was nice of her to send that Easter basket though." Griffith said then. "I mean she had to send it from all the way across the country so it must have cost quiet a bit." He took his own candy bar but still kept the fan aimed dutifully at Jeremy
Jer laughed a little and bowed his head again. Jer indeed had a very soft spot in his heart for his mom. He shrugged a little blushing more and laughing once he felt the breeze from the fan. It made the very slight bit of sweat on his forehead feel cool. He looked at Griffith and sighed. "Yeah it was nice of her but she cant afford that kinda shi...stuff." Jeremy tried his best to stop cursing in front of Griffith. He took another bite of his candy bar and sighed. "Heh, than fan feels good, you should get in on it."
He noted the changes in Jeremy's expression as they talked about his mother. Griffith could tell that the other boy really cared about her and it was kinda sweet in a way. "You could always get a job and pay her back for it..." He suggested, as he took a bite out of a candy bar. But other then that he didn't mak e a move to use the fan on himself. "It's ok...this fan is too small. If I move it, you'll never get any wind." He could move closer to Jeremy really but, Griffith would never think to crowd someones personal space.
"Yeah I think I'll have to do that." Jer really did feel guilty when his mother would spend money on him when he knew she was poor and barely getting by back home in LA. he sighed a little then looked at Griffith. He laughed a little. "C'mon man its hot, come here, use the fan."
Griffith extended one arm, lifting it up for the back of the seat. He didn't really think about how he might look or smell having been pushing a car in the sun, but welcomed Griffith to come closer. "Please dude, you look hot." Which was true...and Griffith looked pretty warm too.
And he got warmer as Jeremy insisted that he come closer. Griffith ducked his head and after a moment slipped nearer. He had to put the candy bars on his lap or risk squashing them. A squashed candy bar was just disgusting to eat after all. He sighed a little as the fan's cool breeze touched him and after a bit relaxed against the seat and Jeremy. "Thanks for sharing." Griffith said, smiling a little at the other boy. He looked a little tired now, all the rush of being worried about Jeremy and the car leaving him exhausted. "I'm going to close my eyes for a second." He said, and he did... only the second ticked by and added up into a cat nap. The fan in his hand drooped as Griffith slipped into sleep.
Jeremy shifted a little so he leaned against the spot between the back seat and the door and lifted his arm so that Griffith could move in close and smiled as he felt the fan's refreshing breeze. He closed his eyes too but then after a minute or so the breeze went away. He opened his eyes and watched the fans rubber blade's try to spin against the back seat as Griffith had fallen asleep. The skater boy looked slightly downwards to the emo boy and grinned a little. He shifted a little, allowing Griffith to slide down slightly to rest against him. Jeremy had a bit of muscle to him so he could provide Griffith with a semi-soft resting place. He sighed a little, contently and rested against the back seat and his head dropped a little till his chin rested against Griff's head, his arm slipping off the seat slowly, falling down till it softly landed around Griffith's shoulder, his forearm falling comfortingly over Griffith's chest as Jer also slipped into a slumber, perfectly happy with how this outing went.
