Thead: Walter & Nicholas Who: Walter Avery & Nicholas Pucey. When: January 14. Afternoon. Where: School; classroom. What: Detention for two unlikely people.
Nicholas had never been in detention before. But here he was, sitting in a classroom after school, with Mr. Morris sitting at the front, reading the newspaper, and giving stern eyes and sharp words to anyone in the room who thought to speak.
He was there (as was Walter) because they had broken curfew, snuck out and not come back until the next day. So Nicholas wasn't really surprised to be in detention. Teachers had eyes everywhere, and in a school full of psychics, that was even more the case. It was an odd experience. Sitting in a room with few other students, not allowed to speak, expected to do work. Which Nicholas was doing.
He was trying to study for the upcoming exams. In fact he had been sitting in silence for about half an hour, going over his chemistry notes. Sliding the odd glance at Walter who was sitting in the next desk over. Finally, he took a fresh sheet of looseleaf, and wrote out in his neat handwriting, It was worth getting detention over. What are you working on?
Carefully and quietly he folded the paper up and then subtly reached over and dropped it on Walter's desk.
