Who: Alfie and OTA What: Impromptu jam session When: Friday afternoon Where: the cafeteria!
Alfie wasn't going home until Saturday morning - his parents were both working and his sister didn't get home from college until Monday. His parents would still be working on Saturday, but the less time he had at home, the better. He was just going to take a bus into the city and take the Bolt Bus to Cherry Hill, NJ, his home town. In fact, Alfie was quite happy that the Bolt Bus now existed, since he didn't have to take Amtrak to Philadelphia and make his parents pick him up. Now he could just take a bus and walk home (or call a friend and make them get him, which he planned on doing). Getting home was seriously a huge hassle when your parents didn't bother taking a half hour off of work to help you get home from school for your break. It was even worse when Alfie was younger - he was always in latch key or after school programs or day care, and hardly saw his parents unless they were asleep.
He was done with his finals, but since most of the school was leaving throughout the day, Alfie was bored. After smoking a joint in his room (he'd perfected the art of getting the smell of pot out of his room), he got the munchies, so he went to the cafeteria for lunch. He took his guitar case with him, since he figured that no one would be around so he could play. That was one of the beautiful things about going to a performing arts high school - no one got upset or annoyed when you started playing music in a place like the cafeteria.
Today was pizza day in the cafeteria, which was wonderful, since Alfie had a craving for cheese right now. He brought his tray to an empty table (well, most of them were empty), and ate half of his pizza. Suddenly, he felt compelled to take his guitar out and start playing. Nothing like a cafeteria sing along, even when no one was there.
