Nooo, I can't bear to think of Iwaki and Katou breaking up! (Guess that answers who my favorite ship is!) Well, I could tolerate them breaking up temporarily after a big fight, but only if they got back together again (after bucketloads of angst, of course).

Actually, I would rather one of them die than have them break up. I could accept one of them eventually finding comfort and happiness with someone else, because the separation would be something beyond their control. I guess it's similar to the way that I prefer Lupin and Snape to both be dead in the HP universe rather than have Lupin living happily ever after with Tonks. (Yeah, I'm a vindictive Snupin shipper; what can I say?)

Which of the two would be able to move on the easiest? Why?

Hmm...I think Iwaki is the more emotionally fragile of the two, in spite of--or maybe because of--his stoic demeanor. I'm not sure that he could go on if Katou died. Katou would be devasted, and it would take him a long time to get over Iwaki's loss, but I think eventually he would realize that Iwaki would want him to happy, so he couldn't mope around for the rest of his life.

As for who he'd end up with...I'm not sure. Bronze Ribbons wrote a lovely, bittersweet story where he ended up with Yoshizumi after Iwaki died, but I only know Yoshizumi from fanfic. (I'm just about to start reading Book 9, so I should be seeing him for myself soon.) Or maybe Kaneko, who seems to take care of Katou so well? Though I don't really get a romantic vibe between those two, to be honest. It would really be interesting if Katou and Iwaki's brother turned to each other in their mutual loss and fell in love, but then I'd feel guilty about breaking up Big Brother's family. (It's embarrassing, but his given name has escaped me at the moment, and I'm too lazy to go look it up.)

With Carlo and Magira...I could see Magira taking off, not because he doesn't love Carlo, but because he doesn't know how to be in a committed relationship and it scares him. Though it would really be too sad if they didn't get back together. Previously, I might have said that it would be interesting to see either of them paired with Shu Ti Fan, but now thanks to Snapelike's "Where the Wild Lilies Grow," I can't picture him with anyone but Shouji!
