Donna Troy sat in a marble chair in the Temple of Science pouring over a scroll she had extracted from one of the shelves in the temple library. She'd returned to Themyscira days ago to find it deserted. Apparently the witches spell had affected the Amazon home land as well. It seemed that this alternate earth was an exact duplicate of the original one in every detail. Donna's eyes squinted in the dim touch light as she read the ancient Greek words on the scroll over and over again. The scroll was a study on alternate dimensions and the theory of how to build a bridge between them.
In the old days nothing short of the hand of a deity could accomplish something like removing the world’s children and sending them to another earth. But magic had grown stronger since those times and the witch was no exception. Donna glanced over at the communicator sitting on the table beside her. She had left it's twin with Stephanie Brown back in Gotham. So far Stephanie had not contacted her so Donna had to assume that things back in Gotham were under control. She returned her eyes to the scroll and continued reading.
Apparently the theory was that if an energy source powerful enough was harnessed, it could potentially rip a door way between two separated worlds. Donna was uncertain what could be that powerful. She stood up from her seat in the marble chair, and with scroll in hand walked down a torch lit hallway and into the main chamber of the temple. A tall statue of the Themysciran patron goddess Athena stood in an alcove to the left of her. Donna glanced at the statue and then genuflected. She had been praying to Athena all week for a solution, but it seemed her prayers were falling on deaf ears.
After Donna got back up she strode to a large machine built from iron and marble. It was the closest thing Themyscira had to a computer. It was powered by the legendary purple energy, a gift from the Gods of long ago. Donna sat at the control seat and the machine powered to life. A huge column of purple energy shot straight up from the floor and connected with the vaulted ceiling, a sign that the machine was working properly.
A series of marble glyphs lit up on the control panel, and a Donna began to enter a number of commands. Donna really had no idea if she would be successful in trying out the theory described on the scroll but she had to try. Perhaps New Cronus would have been the better location to attempt something like this, but Donna wanted to be on her home turf. The sun began to set on the island of the Amazons as Donna punched another set of commands into the machine. "Athena be with us." she said.
