Who: Zatanna Zatara, Sebastian Faust What: Zatanna is at her late father's estate, locked away trying to figure out how the hell to break the Queen of Fable's spell. Faust decides to come find her. When: 12/08/09 Where: Shadowcrest mansion, Gotham, NJ Rating: PG (at least for cussing)
It'd been one week and Zatanna was officially freaking the fuck out. Of course she'd gone to the Justice League the moment she'd realized what'd happened. (All the kids gone? Seriously? How was that a good plan? What the hell? They were just children!) The whole world wreaked of dark magic-- enough so that it actually pained her a little. But no matter.
Once she'd briefed the League with what she knew-- magic expert and all that-- she'd immediately gone to her father's library at Shadowcrest mansion and locked herself away. Zatanna spent days pouring over spell books and ancient tomes. She tried any and everything that looked like it might even have the slightest shot at working.
So far? Not even one iota of success.
Zatanna had discovered that the children were not just vanished but placed on another, identical world. This world was somehow separated from their own by a magical barrier she couldn't cross but it was there and so were the kids. She'd informed the League about that, too, for all the good it did. There was relief, sure, but they still couldn't do anything. (Couldn't hit anything.)
Sweet Circe, she just wanted to punch the living daylights out of the Queen of Fables for pulling a stunt like this. Because this was serious business. There were babies over there! Babies without their parents! Not to mention the toddlers and elementary aged kids. Merlin, the few times she'd accidentally fallen asleep, she'd had nightmares about all the ways they could hurt themselves.
This had to end. She'd read every damn word in the entire mansion if she had to, but she was going to find a way to fix this. And she was going to sock the Queen right in her pretty little face. Because it would make her feel better and damn it she needed to feel better.
