While many were going out with children to collect candy or going to local parties, the peoples of high society were doing their civic duty by holding two large charity balls. One of the balls - hosted by Dori Aandraison and her husband Irveang Polamar - was at the Metropolis Grande Hotel benefiting a variety of orphanages on the east coast while the other was on the west coast benefiting those out in the west. They were connected through a series of webcams that - in the case of the Metropolis party - projected the other party onto a large multi-screen display.
It was designed as a costumed affair, though only the more carefree attendants actually put on anything more than a mask. The guests ranged from socialites and prominent businessmen (and businesswomen to those of the politically correct sort) to doctors and politicians. All had something to gain from being there whether it was a general caring for the orphans of America or simply to establish good PR and mingle with others that could be beneficial to them. Either way, money was donated and they got to have a night of dancing and socializing.
