Who: Jennie-Lynn Hayden and Roy Harper What: Jade goes clubbing for her birthday, Roy's got a gig at the club and as it happens, they recognize each other. Oops. When: Friday, October 23 [backdated] Where: Los Angeles, California Rating: PG-ish
It was her birthday today.
Jennie had been anxious all week. She literally could not wait. Really, your birthday only came once a year and even though she didn't have anyone to celebrate it with, Jennie-Lynn was still going out. The people at school were so-so, but she couldn't say she felt a connection to any of the people at St. Elias with the exception of Rachel Roth. Still Rachel was not someone Jennie-Lynn was going to take out clubbing any time soon.
So...homework be damned! 10AM photo shoot be damned! Curfew be damned! She was going out.
She used the old, tried and true "going bowling with friends" excuse. It was her favorite because she could slip out relatively undetected with all of her stuff (make up, heels, accessories, etc.) all neatly packed away in her bowling bag. Her dress she was already wearing, but like so many things about this evening, looks were deceiving. Her dress was disguised as flouncy fashion top. Lose the jeans, un-tuck the bottom, and voila - instant party dress.
Once she was past the gates of St. Elias, Jennie stepped on it, quickly putting distance between her and the boarding school and making her way into the city in record time. Once she parked her car in the structure, Jennie clambered into the backseat of the Little Green Machine and put the finishing touches on her outfit for the evening. She shimmied out of her jeans, fixed up her dress, put her heels on and added a little eyeliner and gloss. Big hoops earrings and a fluff to her 'do and Jade was ready to hit the town.
There were a couple of places that looked promising, those with lights on the outside and a long line of fabulous looking people out front. Unfortunately, most of those places wanted a $25.00 cover at the door and required a bottle service inside. Needless to say, they were a little out of her price range.
Ugh, why did Hollywood have to be so expensive all the time? From her budget she had allowed herself $50.00 to spend this evening, no more no less. It seemed like a fair amount. It was her birthday after all and anyways she was in surplus this month. (According to her spreadsheet at least...)
Fortunately there was another bar, a few blocks over, that was a little bit more in her price range. She could tell it was hopping by the way people kept trickling every few minutes. Closing the distance, she forked over a few rumpled bills and smiled sweetly at the bouncer who was glancing over her fake I.D.
She wasn't even sure why she bothered with the fake I.D. to begin with. It was obvious to most people she was meta, judging by the pigment of her skin. She could have just made up some excuse, but this just seemed easier. Less hassle.
