Raven felt anxious. Her powers were bubbling inside of her with the emotion she couldn't suppress but it could not be helped. Today was the day.
Today she would go to the Justice League of America and ask for their help against her father. Today she would try and save the Earthly plane because her presence there would doom it as assuredly as it would've doomed Azarath without any assistance.
Needless to say, a little anxiety was not wholly unexpected.
She sat on her bed, legs crossed as she meditated. Her mind was open as she searched for the World's Greatest Heroes.
Yes-- there!
It was a magical disruption but Raven could sense great power nearby. There was no way she could be certain but this was likely to be the place. Pulling on her cloak, she lifted her hood so it shadowed her face. (In case it was not the Justice League of America.)
Then she created a portal from her soul self and stepped through.
Zatanna was bored. That was what brought her to the Justice Cave (or whatever it was called) that day. She'd been looking for a little entertainment.
She'd only been there for a few minutes when she felt the presence of evil. It was not a demon, she didn't think, but it was a being with mystical powers. Of that much she was certain.
It was a girl, she discovered, when she walked into the main hall.
Zatanna stopped short, listening as she tried to plead her case. "Stop," she interrupted after a minute or so. "I'm sorry," she apologized to her colleagues, "but this girl has great evil inside of her." It was like a dark seed, deep inside of her. A ticking time bomb. And who knew when it would explode
It was stronger now, the sense that she could feel. As if she'd been spawned from the devil himself. (And perhaps she had-- there were many in the worlds beyond this one.) "Please--" the devil child tried in a soft and calm voice.
"It's a trick," Zatanna interrupted. "You look young and innocent but my senses do not lie." She moved closer, bits of magic sparking at her fingers in anticipation. "Leave now."
The girl raised her chin. "No, please, I must--"
Zatanna shook her head. "Leave now of your own volition or I will make you leave." Her eyes flashed and she smirked. "And you do not want me to make you leave, young one."
The girl was poised to argue for a moment, then nodded slowly. "As you wish." She created a portal-- teleportation, an impressive power-- and disappeared from their sights.
The others looked at Zatanna questioningly and it made her just a little uncomfortable. It was obvious they wanted an explanation. "I will strengthen the magical protections around the cave," she said instead. "That should protect us from future unwanted guests."
Then she too took her leave, marching from the hall. She didn't stop until she was certain she was alone. Leaning against a wall, Zatanna sighed. She really hoped she'd done the right thing...
Back in her dorm room, Raven sank onto her bed in defeat. So the Justice League of America would not help her...
