Kate Pryde ([info]kageneko) wrote in [info]xmo_sandbox,
Yana was Yana, and Kate assumed that however mad she was at the bailing, she'd eventually get over it. Kate was an only child, but Yana had, from practically the moment they met, been like a sister to her. She was family, and family understood. She hadn't, however, expected Yana to already be in a hugging kind of mood... but damn, was she glad that she was.

Kate leaned into the embrace, holding Yana a little bit tighter than was probably necessary and not bothering at all to keep the tears from spilling over then. Home wouldn't have been home without Yana speaking to her, and it would have made the giant Piotr-sized hole in the building feel even bigger. When Yana admitted that she was ditching Jamie's class to see her, Kate laughed, pulling back slightly to smile through the tears. "I feel like I'm supposed to tell you not to skip class, Cнежинка."

"But I'm glad you did." She gave her another quick squeeze before stepping back and getting a good look at her. It really had been two years. It'd felt like so much less time, but Yana looked... well, she looked two years older than the last time Kate had seen her. She couldn't even begin to imagine all of the things she'd missed. She laughed as she noted, "You're so old." The smile faded quickly and she wiped her face, adding, "I'm sorry I stayed away so long."
