Sandbox Comm and Rules
Since this is a game that allows for characters from across the known and as-of-yet unknown worlds of the multiverse, we understand that it can be difficult to jump right in with a character without having had the chance to "test drive" that character (in this world or their own).
Sometimes it's also good to have a place where backstories can be played out to help get a feel for IC relationships. Some backstories include events that players may want to either play out or just write out in narrative form in more detail than can be put in the bio.
And sometimes... well, sometimes it's just fun to play out scenarios that could never possibly happen in the game world itself.
It was for all these reasons (and more that we're not clever enough to come up with right at the moment) that the sandbox community (xmo_sandbox) has been created. The sandbox will give you a place to experiment, build rapport or animosity between characters, flesh out backstory, or just see what would happen if suddenly there was a zombie outbreak.
While there is a lot of room for artistic license, there are a few rules that we would like you to observe when playing in the sandbox.
Sandbox Rules
1. Do not godmod characters who are in play. If you want to have a thread involving another established character, reach out to the other player. Chances are they'll be just as interested as you are.
2. NPCs are allowed. This is especially true if you're using the sandbox to play out events happening in other worlds. Use NPCs as necessary to develop those worlds. It's possible that another player may become interested in apping someone from your AU, so make sure to keep that in mind!
3. While we do allow NPCs in the sandbox, remember that they are still NPCs. They should not be played more than the actual journaled character.
4. While things that happen in the sandbox are not automatically canon for the game itself, some things can certainly be considered backstory for it. This is one reason why we do want to make sure things get appropriately tagged with things like character name, backstory, off world, au, etc. If it's easier to wait until after the thread is finished to determine how/if it needs to be tagged that's fine, but please tag once you've figured it out.
5. Non-accepted/potential characters can be played in the Sandbox. This is a great feature because it allows you to test drive your character in the XMO world with established characters prior to actually applying. IF the character is then applied and accepted, the interactions can become canon backstory in the game if so desired. Until the point that the character is accepted, however, any threads they are in are not considered game canon.
6. Standard rules regarding grammar, tagging/warning for triggers/nsfw, etc. all apply like normal.
7. Have fun with it. If you have any questions, please get with a mod.
The Sandbox is officially open so feel free to have some fun in it.
