"Can't knock Bela Lugosi." Pete laughed, wondering idly how most of their conversations seemed to shift to monsters in literature lately. Maybe it was Halloween, or her reading kick, but either way he knew he hadn't actually held a conversation about vampires or Frankenstein with anyone in...well...ever.
"We managed, and that's all you ever need to know. Trust me." He promised, trying not to think too much about burnt dinner when he had something absolutely delicious sitting in front of him. He reached for a fork and picked out a piece of carrot to start with. "Experience is required, apparently." He popped the veggie into his mouth and chewed, humming gratefully. "This is so good."
He started poking around, gathering diverse pieces of food onto his fork as he spoke again. "So, you read that kind of stuff a lot? Or is it sort of a seasonal thing?" With Halloween around the corner it certainly made sense that people would be trying to get into the mood, but there were plenty of others who read just to read it.
