Distractions were fantastic. Pete was taking full advantage of his sketchbook, stretched out on the small couch with his knee raised, his foot resting on the coffee table, finishing up the faint outline of a gnarled, currently leafless tree. Foliage wasn't usually his thing, but he'd been in the mood for some reason. His laptop rested beside him, open and on as he'd been talking to his sister not too long before. She'd wandered off for something a little more interesting some time ago, before he'd started drawing, but he was fairly used to it. For now he was mostly keeping it on to faintly listen to his music playlist.
He'd been spending a fair amount of time in his little apartment since the rally, though he hadn't really worked on much of anything art-wise. A couple unfinished paintings still rested on the floor along the wall, one still occupying the easel near the window in the livingroom. Most of the other paintings he kept in the small storage space off the balcony, just to prevent them from cluttering the rest of the apartment. Currently, the apartment itself was a little cool as he'd kept the balcony doors open for most of the day. By the time he'd remembered to close them again he'd switched up his t-shirt for one that was brown and had longer sleeves. It had gotten a bit warmer, but he was still fairly comfortable as he was.
At the sound of the knock, he looked up at the door, moving his pencil and drawing to the side before pulling himself to his feet, walking barefoot across the carpet until his hand reached for the knob. He couldn't prevent the slightly lopsided smile that crossed his face when he saw it was Dorcas, arms full of food to boot, reaching his hands out to take something. "Hey, stranger."
