"I think we can find ourselves a designated babysitter for the night so you can relax a little more. I'm pretty sure we won't be passing around a turkey at the party this year, either." It made him wonder just what he wasn't remembering about the festivities from the year before. Had he had that much to drink?
Ben had never been one to worry too much about the holidays most represented at parties like that being offensive to Adam. He'd known the guy long enough that he was more than certain it wasn't an issue. Holidays were holidays, meant for fun, socializing, and generally just being pleasant with everyone else. There wasn't anything religion-specific about it.
"This is reminding me I need to do holiday shopping soon." He looked thoughtful at that, though really, it could have been worse. He didn't have that many people to buy for, and he wasn't lacking for funds. It was likely more the idea of dealing with lines, and less-than-jolly buyers and employees. "Maybe I'll do it all online this year. That's what all the cool kids are doing these days, right?"
