"I've actually considered offering to give a lecture on more than a few occasions. It might be interesting to see if any of our students would be willing to sit in for some sort of credit. Mingle a bit with the UCLA crowd. It's a little dizzying to think of what sort of hoops I'd have to jump to get the green light for something like that though."
The potential safety issues the school could come up with were one of the only things deterring him from actually making an official offer to head a discussion of that sort. He could already hear the word 'liability' ringing clearly in his ears and it almost made him cringe. Who knew how many mutant students UCLA had under its nose already, but he knew the prospect of allowing a sizable group of unfamiliar 'knowns' onto the premises could make the school officials heads spin. Ben didn't even bother to pretend that idiocy like that didn't bother him, but as far as he could tell, getting aggravated wouldn't help the situation unless he could come up with something plausible and overly reasonable for the wary university board to consider.
"Oh God, he'd clash with everything." Ben was laughing now, his hand moving lightly to nonchalantly cover the lower half of his face, amusement more than obvious in his gaze. The mental picture alone was enough. "Really though, the 'dirty work' is the fun part. People like that don't know what they're missing. Up to your elbows in dirt, covered in sweat. Being shadowed by shady locals. Insects the size of a Volkswagen Beetle...it's satisfying. And half those bugs aren't even poisonous." He chuckled more, though it was obvious he missed it more than a little.
