The more they spoke about food, the more hungry Ben got, and for a moment he wondered how far away he was from ordering everything on one, or both sides of the menu. The smells wafting from the restaurant certainly didn't help either. Still, he was intrigued by Adam's after-service exploits and grinned.
"Was Mrs. Liberstein the one who had the skin condition over the summer?" He couldn't quite remember, though with how many times it happened he could only wonder how Adam managed to keep them all straight himself. It was times like those that made Ben appreciate the differences in their expertise, though it wasn't as if he hadn't had a handful of his own. It seemed like any time someone heard the word "Doctor", no matter what field it implied, it was like a trigger.
"It was interesting. It mostly dealt with human genome and didn't really delve so much into mutant distribution. I guess we just need to start getting those guys more information." He chuckled a little at that, but also imagined that delving into that topic could have doubled or tripled the lecture duration. He raised his glass and took sip from it before continuing. "John Halden was presenting. He's a close associate of a museum director I worked with in Panama a few years ago. It was nice to see him again."
"Can I get you something to drink?" The waitress that had helped Ben earlier wandered back up with a pleasant smile on her face, her question aimed at Adam. She slid a menu in front of both of them, then waited patiently, glancing over at Ben's glass to make sure it didn't need to be refilled before looking back again.
