Ro held a certain biased against the Nintendo Wii console for reasons he couldn't totally explain. The graphics weren't as superior as others, and even while he knew he wasn't the target audience he couldn't think of any games the console had that he'd be willing to spend money for. That didn't mean there was anything wrong with the console, overall. It wasn't as if he'd really even given it a fair shot, or even tried playing it to begin with. The day after Thanksgiving, with little else to do, now was as good a time as any, and what his Xbox 360 didn't know wouldn't hurt it.
It was rare for the common room to be empty, but it wasn't terribly surprising considering how many people had gone home for the holiday. He was much more comfortable with the idea of testing the system out when there was little chance of an audience, and as a result, almost no chance of him embarrassing himself. He started out small with Wii Sports, taking a few turns at baseball before graduating to boxing. It took some time to get the hang of the controls, but the latter game was a little more effort consuming than the first, and it was a few minutes before he realized he'd broken out into a light sweat. Still, it was satisfying to see the game AI flounder about under the force of his virtual blows, and every once in a while he'd grunt in frustration as his own Mii flopped to the ground every so often, shaking the nunchaku control in an effort to regain his stance before the counter timed out.
He had a slight, uncharacteristic grin on his face as he jabbed twice then knocked out his nonexistent opponent, the game chiming in that he'd won the second round. There was a sort of easygoing, arcade-like quality about the fun. Something he didn't need to invest too much time in to follow a plot or storyline. Noncommittal fun. He could see the value in that.
